Deal Gone South

A coupla weeks ago a guy approached me via the net about a piece of art I owned. He said he collected this particular artist and would like to buy said painting. I said $20,000.00 hoping to blow him off. Well he came back and agreed to purchase the piece. I said yes, as I had $1800 into it, and the time and money coefficient made it worthwhile. After a fairly long conversation with him and several e-mails he seemed hot to go for it. Well the guy flaked without a word. That hurts, cause I just don't know why? .

In all actuality I gave the guy a good price on the piece and was sorry to see it go....but 20 large woulda been a real help. This particular artists stuff sells at auction along with Picasso's and seems to be on a steep upward trajectory this season. The last coupla auctions the size and composition I have, have been in the 20 to 35 range with one for sale in a gallery at 45...Ohh well back to the original plan..

I consider it to be one of my blue chip pieces and as such hate to sell the good stuff when I could sell off some of my lessor pieces...and come up with the same kind O dinero.
