Come to think of it, from a dad's perspective, I would never deign to sell a gun to one of my sons. Yet both have guns that were once mine. I would be a little bit hurt if a son asked to "buy" a gun from me.
Nynor, the most important part is that your dad is happy with the "deal". He would, most likely, be happiest giving it to you. Especially with the promise that it goes to one of your kids next.
