I have a hankering to build up a '66 Fairlane, you could get them with a 427 if you had $$$$. My second car was a 390 that had some good work to it.

I want to build it up with a 351 based stroker in the 420ci ish range
Jim - very cool cars. A former neighbor owned a '66 Mercury (Comet) Capri 427. His dad ordered it new to drag race on the weekends. It was ordered with only 1 option - a remote trunk release. This was in case his wife ever took it to the grocery store. It is a real survivor with original paint, but not a show car. The rear fenders were carefully widened with a ball-peen hammer to fit the drag slicks! The car ran 9 second 1/4 mile times with very few mods. Unfortunately, I never took any pics of it

These pics coming out of the Rally Mexico yesterday remind me of the old Targa Florio, Carrera Panamericana and Mille Miglia road races of days gone by.
