Go see what your local mall cop wears. Some sort of black leather sneaker. Not real dressy, but not less than what you've been wearing.
Some from the Hush Puppies line would be comfortable too, I'm not kidding.
Can't you just wear a nice quiet white leather tennis shoe? Like a K-Swiss Classic?
