We are currently finalizing the planning of our bathroom reno. It is a 60s home that has a 7 x 10 main bathroom that had endured a reno in the mid-90s by the PO. Try as we might, we couldn't jam a shower booth, tub & vanity into the space without closing it down. So we are gutting it & replacing everything.
The plan so far:
New vanity. Granite top with undermount sink (color
TBD). New mirror. 10mm glass divider mounted on a 1/2 wall. New soaker tub - we know a whirlpool would never be used. New Toto Drake toilet. Porcelain tile in tub/shower area with marble listello/backsplash. Matching porcelain tile on floor.
So far it is looking like $5K + materials & $6K contractor bill. It will probably end up around $13K.
We are interviewing contractors. One no show. One Mr Fix-it who came in at $3500 labor but he was obviously way over his skill level. One guy who took 2 weeks to email the quote: $5900. One Cambodian guy (with a sterling personal recommendation) who wants cash: $5700. One very intense Russian: $TBA.
We will have to sponge-bath and/or shower at a neighbor's for 7 - 10 days.
