The partial meltdowns at the 3 or 4 nuclear reactors in Japan may call into question maintenance, design and other issues at both those plants and others.
It appears that there were long standing criticisms of the containment vessel design in these plants.

IIRC, they date from about 1971 or so, meaning they were designed in the 1960s. I wonder how many other such plants there are... and how many are on fault zones...
I know the Germans extended the lifetime of some of their plants recently -- amid controversy. And have now decided to go back and review or inspect many of their nukes.
