Gamble at night... preferably after midnight... much less crowded and you can pick your poison.
Daytime is for sleep, stuffing yourself with food, hanging at the pool, seeing the sights if you must.
Vegas is very hungry... rooms are cheap... shop online.
Big question is where do you want to stay, on the strip? Off the strip? Fremont street?
