It is the same width as the Slate.
Pickup one of these while you are buying the keyboard

Usually, for light typing and surfing, I just keep the slate in the protective case. Note, to get to the upper right corner, you sometimes need to slide corner of the case off. When I head out of the house, I now grab my Slate as well as cell phone and keys. If I need to check something, I have a full PC at my finger tips.
When you need to do serious typing and work and want a mouse and keyboard, bluetooth is the way to go. If you're using the dock, great. But if you're on the move, install the Slate upsidedown in the case and the case acts as an easel. Connect keyboard and mouse and you are set for serious work!
Most of the time now, I'm just putting the slate to sleep. You can do this with a quick flip of the on/off switch.
