"Can a lay-person land a 747?"

My answer is yes. Two situations: 1. A person with a private pilots license is now in control of a 747. A 747 seats about 450 people typically. Among the world population, I could imagine that the average 747 passenger complement typically has a few amateur pilots on board. These folks usually fly video games which actually do a good job of simulating aircraft.

At the same time, if a laptop pilot ever tried to actually fly a real airliner- he'd probably get it off the ground.....but then he'd then he'd destroy the engines!

2. Yes, a lay person can land a 747; Just push the control yokes forward as far as you can get them; The Mexicana airplane will go straight into the ground!
