Cool. I used to build acoustic guitars for fun. I even built an F5 mandolin. There's nothing like playing a song you wrote, with a guitar you built.

Does your brother actually make a living? I used to meet with other luthiers, and one of our favorite jokes was, "What do you call an unmarried luthier? Homeless." Most luthiers I knew, who did it for money, made their bread and butter on repairs. But it can be a successful enterprise. Just ask Mr. Gibson or Mr. Taylor. If it's not a good living, at least it's a good life.
