I can testify that it is a PAIN IN THE BUTT to remove the seats on a 1985 911 Carrera.
The stupid 4 way switch is now just a one way switch. It can only go up.
Lotsa contact cleaner will make it work for a few minutes. I guess it is time to replace the switch.
