Speaking of hose clamps. Last time I did some power steering hoses, I bought BMW brand hose clamps on line for $1.50 each. They worked just fine.
However, I was one clamp short so I stopped by the BMW dealer. He charged me $4.50 for a clamp that looked just like the others I had, but the one from the dealer did not say BMW on it.
The one from the dealer was worthless. It stripped immediately when I tried to tighten it.
The moral of this story is - you have to be careful about your parts, even if they come from the $tealer.
