Refinished Fuchs (by a pro) didn't come out so great
I had sent my Fuchs out for refinishing by a very well known shop (don't want to name names, no, not Wheel Enhancement). I wanted a silver painted center with an anodized outer lip. Originally I had opted for a powder coated finish but there has been much discussion about compromising the integrity of the wheel during the process with temps over 300 degrees - this shop uses a temp of 360 degrees.
Since I wanted to track this car (potential problem or not) I decided to play it safe and have the wheels painted instead. I specified clearly that I wanted a silver finish like that found on any new Porsche or BMW wheel, basically a nice silver gloss. After two months the wheels came home.
Based on the reputation of the shop I was quite surprised to find the silver paint anything but shiny, (not smooth to the touch), and the lug nut holes painted over! It looks like something one might do with a rattle can. I did not take pictures because the "sheen" or lack thereof wouldn't really show up.
One of the reasons I wanted a professional shop to do them was to get a hard, durable finish that would be better than I could do at home. I decided to try and wipe a little brake cleaner on the painted surface - the paint came right off!
I tried wiping a little brake cleaner on the inside black portion as well - same thing, the paint came off on the rag.
There is also silver over spray (through the spokes) on the inside black portion. I don't know if Porsche did it this way but it looks rushed.
I asked a friend/fellow 911 owner what he thought and he said to send them back. Based on the description, what would you do..?
Thanks
