"The GPP" was a great book, but mostly for the stuff in it that wasn't about SW's Porsche obsession. Kinda like "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" is about much more than turning wrenches on BMWs. SW has written some very good stuff about airplanes and other topics too. Easily accessible through a Google search.
My own taste in automotive writing really tends towards the SW end of the spectrum but my favourite motorhead writer by far is Peter Egan. He has a real talent of taking just about any topic and making it appealing for me. I think it's because he has a skill for self-analysis combined with a deep enthusiasm that is so rare nowadays.
While by turns the seller's writing in MJ was engaging and annoying (who buys an old BMW 2002 in the dark without a PPI???), I still can't quite get my head around his collection of 550+ LED calculators.
