hi
i do the same with my 86 NA-convert to 88 turbo.
so i incorage you to do all the work on the turboengine before put it in your car because every work on the turbo is time consuming and you must put a lot of thing out...

Start with all the gasket and seals, the clutch is very important to be perfect for many years of pleasure!!!Take a look with a gauge for the turbo axial and radial play, rebuild if neccesary.

The electric diagram is very similar so the only complication is the auxiliar water pump.
The rest(arms, brakes, stabilizer) is time to rebuild all the busching-i put polybronze and polyurethane and is easy and fun to do.

You will spent time for put the intercooler and eventualy changes panels, front bumpers, wings.

For the transmission i encorage you to have a "weekend trip" tempo with NA unit because with a hard drive you will destroy the ring/pinion assemby

Try to find a good 944 s2,turbo or maybe 968 tranny in future.

I do this only because find a good turbo selvage and have the time to do it but when you started you will see many little trouble, rebulding, money spending....

Good luck, you will need it like me...
