I have the same symptoms and both my springs are in good shape. Had it on my 911SC also and never worried about it. As long as your clutch engages and releases fully and you have enough free play adjusted your fine. I think as the pedal nears full return that last inch you describe the mechanical leverage in the pedal arm geometry in the pedal box is not enuff to return it to its stop. Its almost as if the pedal goes overcenter slightly inside the pedal box if you watch the motion of the return spring in there.
Hard to explain but ithe short answer is i would not worry about it.
