I know a guy who used to drive his car up onto his open trailer, set the handbrake, pull in the ramps, and drive off. Never had a problem.

Not my cup of tea, but the less you have to do to get a car secured for trailering, the less there is to forget to do. When trailering I sometimes wish it still had a handbrake.
