Not the Tropicana! I stayed there when I went for the SEMA show last fall. It is under renovation and though the rooms are nice the price isn't that great and their aren't many amenities. Restaurants closed at 10! I like MGM and Mandalay, but it's a bit of a hike from Mandalay to anywhere. You have to take a free monorail up to Excalibur, walk across the strip and all the way to the back of MGM to get to the main monorail. The monorail costs $5 a day or $5 round trip, I don't remember.
