S-brakes are great. But I'd replace hoses too. Sometimes its a collapsed inner hose that prevents release.
Call 928 intl and get a kit. Cheap.
I clean the outside with wire brush extensively before disassembly.
The, pop out the pistons (safety here!) and put them in the kitchen sink, clean bores and piston with 600 grit paper, running a thin stream of water.
Dry, rinse in acetone. Dry and reassemble. I use a very thin layer of dielectric grease to lube.
Simple. Have done this on 5 sets of S-front calipers.
They don't pit like GM stuff. No hone needed.
