Should I scratch this itch?

For a BMW R1200R? I find myself riding my venerable 750 Katana quite a bit these days with gas prices what they are and all and it's as reliable of a steed as ever, however given my commute (about 45 miles each way) I'm feeling the urge for a bigger, more torquey, lower-revving touring-type bike. I've lusted after the BMWs for years and there are some screamin' deals out there right now. Just wondering what you guys think. On the one hand I hate to spend the money but OTOH they're fabulous bikes and I know I'd seriously get the use out of it. Or perhaps I can look into a higher-geared sprocket for the Kat so it won't be turning 6,000 RPM+ on the freeway all the time (it does get a little annoying after a while).

Talk me down. Or maybe, "buy the alcoholic another drink".
