The hammer has a violent job. It can be used destructively or constructively. It can be put down to rest, but you never know when it will be picked up again and put to work. A good hammer is always useful.

The nail could be used to hold items together for the rest of it's life, but it is basically a static, restful job. The catch is that that life can be interrupted by the majestic claw of the hammer, which will rip the nail from it's restful job and leave it deformed and useless on the ground.


I guess it comes right down to whether you want to be a tool, or be the one whom the tool is hitting on.
