In the late '70's and early '80's I had a pretty darn quick, dedicated, purpose built drag car - a '69 Dodge Super Bee. It was an honest to gosh, solid mid ten second car. A buddy had a Baja Bug with a big bore, stroker type one motor. The thing was pretty light, with all fiberglass panels outside the main "greenhouse". There wasn't a damn thing I could do to stay with him through the first two gears. That thing was the stoplight to stoplight king, bar none.
A Prius, though? I'm sure the slot car motor has instant torque, so it probably launches well, at least the way most folks would drive a car. Maybe that makes them feel fast. I guess I'll have to pay more attention to those guys from now on; I used to think that hunkered down, strainied, serious demeanor came from being all constipated with their own self rightousness. Now that I realize it might stem from some sort of delusions of "racing" me, I might see it in a whole new light.
