You had me at Gordon Lightfoot. I really like Ms Krause too, so I had to click the link. Thanks. I loved it!
I have to say though, I don't connect her music with bluegrass - she is too sophisticated. Bluegrass is like rock and roll - it's of the people and when it gets refined it becomes something else. It's great and I love it, but it's something else.
I remember hearing an interview with some 80's hair band moron who talked about his music as rock and roll art. WHAT? Rock and Roll is the antithesis of art. Its appeal is that it is stupid, loud fun. Calling it "art" diminishes it. Louie Louie is one of the greatest R&R songs ever. If I ever hear some expert peering over his glasses and explaining the social significance and nuanced meaning of the lyrics of Louie Louie I'll whack him over the head with his champagne flute. It's Rock and Roll. It's fun. It doesn't have to be anything else.
