I like Peter's Post! If you can work on them yourself and had an older BMW (Which also had CIS) so you already know what is Up!

I have a 1982 BMW 320I with 248,000 Miles and Had a 1976 911s with just under 400,000 before it was totaled (Wife cut off going through a turn at over 130). Because of owning and "Understanding" the CIS that was why I wanted a 1983 or OLDER car. Once you have fixed everything they are a lot more relaible than most cars. I put a bottle of STP Dry Gas every few tanks and the only problem I have had since it was working perfectly is the one way valve. I am getting some from the UK that were designed for Fuel ($14 a piece) and will add that in line and that should be it! FOr some reason the BMW Has never had this problem

I would say to buy any car from 1978 on up to 1986 that you can make a great deal on and is in Excellent condition. Even with Junk Gasoline we get 19 Mixed driving and 26 to 27 on the road. Remember the 10% Ethanol lowers the mileage by about the same amount 10%. (We could get just under 30 MPG with the 76 on straight gasoline on the road and about 21 to 22 MPG in mixed driving)
