My dad graduated from Airborne and Ranger school, but I don't know if that puts him in the "special forces" camp or not... I've definitely never heard him use that term.

Special Forces is the "Green Berets."
Rangers are light infantry commandos. They are under the SOCOM umbrella, so can be rightly called SPECOPS troops i would think.
