ask the bartender at the McMenamins
and pick up a Willy Week and look thru WITH the wife
Willamette Week
Crystal Ballroom – 1332 W. Burnside – 503/2250047
McMenamins - Crystal Ballroom Home
1,500 person floating floor on ball bearings and rockers; high arched windows, rococo paintings
opened in 1914 as Cotillion Hall but you could be arrested then for dancing the Tango; closed in 1968 until renovated by McMenamins
- historical shrine you should visit
Jimmie Mack's - has a web site; NO SOFT jazz!!!
Metropolis
Satyricon – 125 NW 6th –featured Nirvana & Soul Asylum before they were famous; now if a mellower neo/post/punk stage
Jazz de Opus – 33 NW 2nd – jazz club in the heart of Old Town since 1972; now with upstairs eatery, Opus Too
to be honest, I don't know where to tell you to go for soft jazz (except hell)
hope you have a good time and can improve your wife's musical taste!
