Yes, I read all about that when I first started using them. Tried the high pressures but found that I had very little grip - the tires felt 'greasy'. Dropped them to 32psi and had immediate improvement, and noticeably faster lap times.
This was in my '76 911, stock 2.7 motor, weighing under 1000kg.
That's my experience anyway.
