Hi Guys, sorry about the time away from updating but the real world was calling. We can all agree that it sucks. 9 days away from the RED Rally in the North East. The guys are getting itchy and last minute details are being attended to. And now for an update with my vintage saga.

Tire Rack and Dunlop accepted all the tires back with a full refund. Replaced the Star Specs with Bridgestones Re-11s. These tires completely revived the car. The handling is back. No more wandering around on the road and in turns the car sticks like glue. Mounted up right the first time and took minimal weights to balance. But as a side note, a friend of mine just bought the exact same dunlop tires but mounted them on 7 inch rims for a BMW and has had no problems. Must be something in the manufacturing that caused problems on the 6 inch rims. Don't know but he even had the same lot number. Stuff happens.

Speaking of stuff happens.. Brake issues continued even after another full bleed at the shop. Pedal would suddenly go down 1/2" while at a stop with no change in pressure. Talked it out with my mechanic and we decided to bite the bullet and change out the master cylinder that I had installed before the trip. Problem solved! Brakes firm, hard with no fading. One of two possibilities... Bad plunger / cylinder or the reservoir lines were not fully seating and causing the problem. Either way brakes fixed.

Lastly, Just to make sure- we corner balanced and aligned the car. Weight w/o driver 2210 lbs with 1/2 tank. Not bad. Front to Rear balance 48.5% with me in the car.

Just got back from a run along the scenic Delaware River and things were great.
Looks like I can actually stop worrying and drive the crap out of the car some more.

Big Thanks to Mark, Nick, Pop and Silent Mark at Speciality Cars for all the help and hospitality while we sorted out the issues. I highly recommend this shop if you are anywhere near the Allentown PA area. In fact I drive 1 1/2hrs just to go there. Great guys with tremendous skills and they care. You would not be disappointed. Just remember to be there around lunch time. A true feast.

Thanks again.

RED Rally and more driving, 9 days and counting.

Hersey in the rain...
