There is no difference in taste IMO but I prefer drinking scotch from a crystal glass... It gives it a sense of occasion.
It's like drinking good tea from a fine china cup and saucer.
In the movie "Blade Runner" Harrison Ford drunk from square shaped glasses. I looked for years and finally found a web page that sells them.
