BTW, as an aside, my wife missed her registration. It was due in November and I noticed it in April! A the county DMV, they hand you a sheet when this happens and ask you if you were given a citation and was the vehicle used during the time.

I asked the person, what is the penalty for telling the truth? She said that they issue the sticker for 12 months if you haven't been using it. If you have, they issue you a sticker for the remaining time on the registration, in our case good to November

No extra charges. They just want the money. And yeah, something like $55.
