The bill legalizing the use of firearms suppressors in the state of Washington was signed into law on April 11th. It takes affect 90 days after that.
They have always been legal to own in Washington, but until now, illegal to use. Kinda weird. This bill simply fixed that.
I've used a myriad of these things (never in my home state, of course...). They are
way over-rated. In 911 terms, it's about like going from megaphones to the M&K track shorties. Takes the edge off, but hearing protection is still mandatory, at least with the centerfires.
Rimfires with subsonic ammo do well with these things, but only because they are so quiet to begin with. I shoot CCI CB Longs out of a 24" bolt gun or a 20" lever gun, and they are virtually silent
without a suppressor. So, why bother? Lots of extra expense and fiddly-dicking around for virtually no real gain.
