The drinking lots of water comment has me thinking possible renal failure - hope it's not that. I lost a wonderful cat to CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) a couple of years ago - rotten disease that is common to cats.
Kidney stones might be a possibility too.
As a general rule, anytime a cat displays symptoms overtly, it's bad - cats are VERY good at concealing their symptoms (think survival - if you display weakness or injury, you're as good as dead). Get her looked at ASAP!
