Since there was a lot of bolt exposed, I used a pair of 10" vice grips. However, the age thing again, I could not get enough clamping force to really dig into the bolt. All I did was basically remove the exposed threads of the bolt. Then, the wisdom part of age appeared and I decided to use a clamp on the vice grips to get a better bite on the bolt. I thought this little tidbit may help other weaklings like me. The bolt did break loose, although a slow process, I held the bolt high over head and did the 928 victory dance.

Hi, if you break the bolt, but you got some treads. you just put on two thin nut. you counter drag it against each other and then you use a normal wrench and hopefully you are in the clear..... I broke 5 bolt when i changed the water pump and got them all out using this method...
