I wonder what the legal issues are on claiming residency out of state? There might be a business in this somewhere. Someone could buy up some land in a state that doesn't require front tags (I'm thinking NC since I live here and we don't require them). The land could be parcelled into the smallest chuncks allowed by law and sold or rented out for the purpose of claiming residency. A service could be put in place to pick up and mail license tags. There is still the problem of inspections, though. Are there any states that don't require anual inspections?
Any lawyers out there care to comment on this idea?
