Most likely your "gap" between your teeth has not been fixed. When you floss between the teeth, does the floss "snap" or just pass through with no binding? Under the right conditions and eating the wrong kind of food, problems like yours are common. Food will get impacted between the teeth. After a while, it will lead to pain and possible swelling in the gums in between the teeth. Sometimes you will feel some bumps or swelling with your tongue. The cure is to get the open contact fixed. In the meantime, floss gently and remove whatever you can between the teeth. Avoid chewing on the side if possible. Gargle with salt water or Listerine 3-4/day. If the problem lingers, antibiotics help. As far as your Dentist goes, I have had the same problems and it is not because of any error or fault. The materials used, location of the teeth, size of the restorations all come into play.
