I don't need B&N for the nook, it reads normal PDF and Secure PDF files, and I can convert any other format to it using "Caliber" But I'm pretty sure the Kindle does this as well?

I've never tried my Nook in direct sunlight, I'm going to have to do that. I didn't know it had issues with that, and now I'm kind of bummed.
