Weight gain/reduction won't do much for top speed other than make it take longer to arrive. I guess at some point, if there's enough extra weight, you may add enough rolling resistance to lower the top speed, but I wouldn't expect a 7mph difference in that car unless you did something to the aero or rolling resistance.

What size engine and power are you talking in that car?

My old miata would probably have hit 115-120 on a good day under good conditions. 1.8L 133hp, fairly crappy aero despite being rounded. I think they are similar in frontal area and Cd as a 3.0 or 3.2L 911. My new miata (turbo) should hit 130 and will be gear limited like my old 911 was at 150ish.
