I had a similar issue on my 84 but my battery would go dead after 3 days and it always seemed low. After a summer of chasing/testing wires and cleaning grounds I purchased an 18" ground cable and connected the frame ground for the battery negative (ground lug next to battery) to the body ground where the engine ground strap connects and all of my problems seemed to go away... Good luck.
