When I broke my leg dirt biking, while waiting 30 minutes for the EMT (and the dirt track was on 5 miles from the hospital) many other riders came by, told me to hang in there, and regaled me with the time they broke their (insert limb/bone and/or multiple experiences). It was then I decided bodily injury was so common I no longer had the desire to continue to drive vehicles with only two wheels on the dirt or the street. Between the idiot holding on the the handle bars, and the idiots out there in cars, just seems like only a matter of time.
When I was in college I did the hang gliding thing. Took classes, bought a glider, and spent a whole weekend hang gliding. Had a great time, very exhilarating, but saw a couple of very experienced pilots crash, then learned 1 in 20 hang glider pilots Die hang gliding. Sold the glider and haven't looked back.
