I am talking about a US spec 968, where there is a socket for a relay for Canadian daytime running light, at least for the 94 model year. Your 944 is different. I am not sure when this extra relay was introduced.

For me, the light is operating as it should. It only turns on when the engine is actually running, and turns off whenever you switch on the headlamps.

The socket is labelled G26, and is located under the dashboard on the driver's side. The part number for the original relay is 944 615 123 00 - if anyone is interested I can show how to make it yourself.
