Don't get your panties in a wad there chief, I didn't compare the S2000 to a 911. I simply said if the 996 isn't the best route, then I will go for an S2000 instead. It's basically the next best thing that I would like to drive.

The real concern for me is reliability and ultimately, affordability.

So I guess the real question is this, are the early 996's any less of a 911 than most other versions (ie. build quality, ride quality, reliability, etc.)?
