Is it just me, or does Ferrari have the worst race stretegists in motorsports? They sit in 2nd & 3rd (not that they care about Massa). They call in their golden boy, Alonso, for intermediates. OK, that's probably based upon the fact that they see Button making up 3-4 sec/lap on the rest of the field, which is on full wets. Ferrari have to do something to get an advantage on Vettel.
But why do so if you know a downpour is about to break out? Do you not have any idea of the forecast? I mean, Penske used to have airplanes flying around the vicinity of the track warning the race team of impending precipitation. Does Ferrari not have that capability?
So they go to intermediates, and then have to switch back to full wets. So they went from 2nd to 9th. Brilliant.
And now it's raining so hard, the race has been red flagged. So a TON of rain has come down, not just a little bit.
In the meantime, Vettel only changes tires once (to replace his wets with another set). And does so only dropping him back to 3rd, which then advances him back up to P1 as the other 2 guys in front also changed their tires.
