For me, the light is operating as it should. It only turns on when the engine is actually running, and turns off whenever you switch on the headlamps.

The socket is labelled G26, and is located under the dashboard on the driver's side. The part number for the original relay is 944 615 123 00 - if anyone is interested I can show how to make it yourself.

Thanks for the infos =egil= mine is a 93/968 Canadian model and as mention daytime running ligths come on automatically when starting the car,but wasn't aware that the US model was different.
