Yes, the electric tops can be a PITA. The main motor doesn't have much juice and tend to burn out frequently. Sometimes there are issues with the "brain" that runs the unit. Seems like adjustments are made more frequently.
And to top it all off, there doesn't seem to be a lot of experience here on this site regarding the repair and maintenance for the electric tops. I'm assuming many cabby owners tend to take matters into their own hands (like myself). Trial and error.
Probably that's why so many convert theirs to "manual". But I still enjoy mine and will continue to muck it up.
