Local hotels. Typically the nicest ones in town, too. We hire a tour bus to run the crews back and forth between the hotel and the airport. It picks us up at the hotel in the morning, and when it drops us off, the night crew boards to return to the hotel. In the evening it picks them up at the hotel, and we get on when they get off. We typically overlap for half an hour or so so tie each other in.

Sometimes we travel on a "tech assist" kind of a deal, when the airline or MRO supplies mechanics for the repair. We have tools and equipment they do not, access to engineers and other staff at home that they do not, and so forth. We work in more of an advisory / liason role on those trips. We still stay in hotels, but we will rent a car or two or three, depending on how many we are, and drive ourselves back and forth. We typically only cover days on site, but are on call all night.
