Good luck with the project - you're in a more advanced state than I am - I've just bought my first Porsche, knowing next to nothing about mechanics etc but am eager to learn. First thing for me, as mentioned by Rasta, is the timing belt etc: - in at the deep end but will do plenty of research first.
Can't say I agree on those BBSs (hideous!). However, to paraphrase "beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder".
