That's what he wants to use it for, to reattach the headliner material. No overspray with the tube of adhesive. And it's light tack will keep from tearing the headliner material if he needs to repair the sunroof mechanism again. If you order it from the dealer, you get a tube of 3M (but WAAAAAYYY over priced.
The weather stripping around the sunroof does not glue down, it's one of those soft plastic/hard rubber coated metal things that presses in place, if it keeps coming up, just lightly squeeze it with pair of pliers to restore the grip. It is not glued to facilitate removal when repairing the sunroof or replacing the strip. A strong adhesive on this would most likely tear the headliner material when removing the stripping.
