IMS Failure, my engine is toast (2005 997S)
Well, my engine is kaput, having just suffered the infamous IMS bearing failure.
It's an out-of-warrantee 2005 997S with 58k miles on it. I change the oil every 5k miles. The SC has nothing to do with the IMS failure, as the bearing can't spin any faster with an SC, it's that simple. So no, the SC didn't tax the IMS bearing.
The dealer has it now, and will see what they and PCNA can do for me next week. Apparently, it ranges from complete replacement on them to a swift kick in the pants, and anything in between.
