-The BEST lawnmower EVER built was a Sears Craftsman from around 1996. It had a Tecumseh engine with a float carburator; You pressed the primer bulb three times and it RAN. This lawmower was so reliable that it made me nervous; This engine has a magneto. So do light aircraft engines. You turn off the key on light aircraft to PROVE that the magneto will be grounded. This lawnmower has no such guarantee. Despite the blade-brake, this engine could potentially start on its own in my shed, and then run to the point where it overheated. It could catch the shed on fire, and possibly even the house! Aircraft engines are shut down by cutting off the fuel for this exact reason! Several light airplanes have started up on their own, managed to work their way out of their tie-downs, and actually taken off and crashed due to their MAGNETO ignitions! Several people have been injured when a magneto-equipped airplane has spontaneously started, and the propellor has chopped off their limbs!
This Craftsman was so easy to start that I used to keep the plug wire removed from the plug! Half the time I didn't even need to push the primer bulb. I have a Troy-Built 4 stroke weed whip that I do the same thing to.
