I sat on a criminal jury a few years back. The guy was up on a rape charge and some other felonies. I didn't have much doubt, and we did convict him. But you really feel the weight of what your being asked to do. This guy was going to lose at least a decade of his life behind bars if we convicted.
Bad smells in a car? That doesn't sound like solid evidence to me. I've had rats/mice get into my cars over the years, and it can stink like hell.
Was she involved in her childs death? Probably. But probably doesn't cut it.
We voted to convict because we had damning physical evidence and multiple eye witnesses (including testimony from the victims shattered 14 year old daughter. Still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it)
